Review of MAHAMAYA Boutique Hotel & Restaurant -Gili Meno, Indonesia

We stayed on Gili Meno only one night and we didn’t check all places on the island, but this is a place we tried and we can definitely recommend.

As our accommodation was close to the beach, in the evening we decided to have a walk around, see the sunset over Trawangan and Bali and find a place to have dinner.

Mahamaya is situated in the North West of the island in a very quiet area.

We were amazed by the beauty of the setting, some tables on the sand, discreet lights and the sunset in front of you.

As there were chances to rain, we decided to stay inside, still the restaurant had the big doors wide open facing the beach.

The first impression was given by the look of the place, very modern, walls and furniture in white, nice decorations and lights. It is a very romantic place, especially at sunset. You can see it as a boutique hotel by the look and design.

The staff was very polite and showed us the special menu of the day. They also have Happy Hour between 7-9 pm for cocktails, two for the price of one.

We tried the Mango Daiquiri and it was perfect.

 

For dinner I had the specialty of the day, Pumpkin ravioli with spinach and wine sauce. It was mouthwatering! So good, homemade ravioli, creamy, soft and full of flavor! The food is prepared by Chef Hamzar, which personally came at our table to ask us how the food was. We had to be sincere : it was amazing!

Tudor had squid in a delicious curry and coconut sauce with vegetables on the side.

For desert we had the best lemon cheesecake with vanilla ice cream we had in years. The cherry on the top.

The staff is always paying attention to your needs, your glass is refilled with cold water promptly. We also had a friendly chat with one of the waiters about our first impression of Indonesia and Gili’s.

It was a relaxing dinner and a top culinary experience and we definitely recommend this restaurant while in Gili Meno.

For sure if we come back on the island we will try the hotel also. And have another romantic dinner watching the sunset over Bali’s mountains :)
